Alkmaar, Nederlands. 5-9 April 2021. Worked, ate and slept in the garage.
At the end of March, the prints were coming off perfectly. I began April with a couple of prints that contained previously failed models. With my new knowledge and experience, would they print out correctly this time?
A dragon print came out lovely, just a little bit flat at the bottom of the tail, not really visible and possibly due to a failed support. Obelix printed out perfectly this time, complete with both legs. I then managed to break the foot off while removing the supports. Bugger.
Obelix with his foot glued back on and the beginnings of the paint scheme being roughed out.
It was about this time that I noticed the prints were taking longer than Chitubox showed when slicing the files. For the last print, Chitubox stated a 3h 50m print, but when finished the printer showed it had taken 5h 30m. This is something I'll need to keep an eye on.
Between the 5th and the 9th, I had 8 print runs with 35 models printed. I have so many cool looking models to print.
After once again breaking something while removing supports I needed to find a better way to do this. I found a great video by 3DPrintingPro on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koMNXvSlpSs) and the solution was simple. After washing, simply drop the print in some hot water for a few seconds. The resin becomes soft and the supports just fall away.
I then had lots of models printed, including a very nice cartoon-style dragon, several Mandalorian figures, all with no support problems.
Boba Fett figures from Dark Fire and a raptor, all with zenithal priming.
The amazing cartoon-style dragon from the Princesses Got Angry KS, a couple of witches from RN Estudio and a Plague Doctor from Iain Lovecraft.
Gollum with a Ring ... donut. :-)
Giantbane brothers, dwarven giant hunters from Archvillain Games, great print ... but I broke the axe head while taking this photo.
Absolutely stunning model bust of Medusa from the Loot Studios collection. Primed with a zenithal highlight.
I began printing an amazing model of Anubis, lord of the undead. It's a multi-part model and I started with the head/upper body. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the supports and part of the headdress was missing.
Broken headdress, now using it to test painting methods and colour schemes.
The base and 3 bits of mummies for the Anubis figure came out fine. Here they are primed with zenithal highlighting.
The bottom part of the Anubis statue, also fine.
I then re-tried the top half of the Anubis statue but managed to break the headdress snipping some supports away. Okay, this is a great model and I've seen photos of other people printing it on the same machine I have, so let's go again. Third time lucky.
Aww WTF, can you believe I ran out of resin. This model must be cursed.
I needed to wait for my replacement resin to arrive, this time I ordered 1kg since the Grey had proved itself. My problem is it will be a week before it arrives. Can I last that long without printing anything?
So far, 35 models printed with only 2 print failures and 3 issues when removing supports.
