Alkmaar, Nederland. July 2021. Improving myself and my prints.

Last month finished on a high note, especially with the self-made busts coming out so well. This month needs to continue that improvement.

I started the month by printing a couple of brilliant figures from Crippled God Foundry and a witch from The Dragon Trappers Lodge. The witch came with a choice of 3 different left arms, so I printed all three to see which was the best fit. I had some room available on the build plate so I printed the base to the Elven Witch bust that I printed a couple of days previously. I had to create my own supports for the bust base and the 2 CrippledGod Foundry figures. Fortunately, they all came out great.

Crippled God Foundry's Enforcer, "Make my day, Orc".

"I am the Law". Cripple God Foundry's Judge figure.

Witch with a spell in the hand.

Witch with her wand, ready to conduct an orchestra.

Witch with her staff and pet raven/crow. This is the one I went with.

We then went away on holiday for two weeks so I was able to recharge my batteries and come back all refreshed and ready to actually paint some of the prints I'd made. Of course, that didn't happen. Instead, I couldn't resist another bundle from Arch Villain Games. This was the next part of their Empire of Sands range, titled Sekhmet Awakens. Some really nice figures in the bundle. Did I print them though? No, I decided that some of these models would be great as busts. So, pulling them into Meshmixer, I proceeded to create busts from some of the models. Since I'd created them myself, I also had to do the supports myself.

Sekhmet. I got a bit over-enthusiastic brushing clean and managed to remove part of the nose chain.

Daughter of Sekhmet, having a nibble of her finger.

A Mau warrior looking slightly puzzled.

A Mau warrior still with his sword.

As can be seen, they all came out really well. Flushed with a set of successful prints I ran another print the same day. This consisted of a female necromancer, 4 parts, and an angel playing the guitar, consisting of 3 parts. All were by Twin Goddess Miniatures and came pre-supported so shouldn't give me any issues.

Catherine, the cute necromancer.

Valera, Angel of Rock.

The following day I set another print going. All of the models were again from Twin Goddess Miniatures and pre-supported. I had a plan, a vision. And like all my visions, it looks great in my head but never really goes anywhere afterward. I hope this will be different because it's a great idea. A drummer, a bassist, and the vocalist's base. That's right, I'm putting a band together. And yes, over-enthusiastic cleaning broke one drumstick and I mistaken removed one of the cymbals thinking it was a support. I did manage to glue the cymbal back on, still have to sort out the missing drumstick though.

Meet Styx, the drummer with his assist Grub, on the triangle.

Here's Knox, the goblin bassist.

The same day I set out to print the remaining members of the band and a couple of bases for them. For some reason, the bard wasn't pre-supported so I had to do that myself along with the base for the bard.

Yep, as you can see one of the chair legs is missing as is her left foot. Supports need to be better.

Alistair, the epitome of metal, or is it glam-rock?

And finally, Skardi, whose dulcet tones will soothe a dragon's troubled soul.

A couple of days later I printed a nice painting handle from Loot Studios. Once completed, the addition of a couple of elastic bands would give me an amazing, and cheap painting handle. Being a Loot Studios model everything was pre-supported and I chose the hollow version of the handle.

Will hold almost all the models I could want to paint, except for the monstrous-sized ones.

Last month I'd printed the Kobold Mariachi band by Twin Goddess Miniatures, and I was really happy with them. I just wanted them a little bit bigger, for my eyes, which are getting old. So I scaled them up to 150%, added my own supports, and printed them off. Also on the build plate was Madolff, the dwarf pirate captain from RN Estudio, and also the Mermaid by Great Grimoire. Madolff needed the supports creating, but the Mermaid was pre-supported.

Bigger is better. The Double bass.

The guitarist.

Blowing your own trumpet

Madolff the Dwarf Pirate. Monkey lost his tail during cleaning.

Mermaid prisoner in a barrel.

I finished off the month with a couple of new items from the Loot Studios Tavern 2.0, which is part of their welcome pack. All pre-supported and of the usual high quality. I also retried the bard from Twin Goddess Miniatures for my tavern band (hopefully the better supports will work this time) and a Pirate at the wheel from Great Grimoire, also pre-supported.

The bard is complete this time. So is my tavern band.

Drunk man at the tavern

Drunken hobbit falling off a small table.

Pirate, drunk at the wheel by Great Grimoire.

I printed on 9 occasions over 7 days for a total of 52 models, of which 1 was a print failure. The printer was busy for 33 hours and 27 minutes. The longest print being 5 hours and 43 minutes for the sliders of the painting handle.
